There are lots of different theories about what the best ways are to learn a new language. Some people say that you need to work in a group of people and learn from one another, that the habit of talking to people in that new language will help you to progress your new found language skills. Some people say that you need to learn this new skill on your own, and the focus that you generate by working in this manner will enable you to learn more quickly and more accurately. The truth lies somewhere between. To be honest the best way to learn completely depends on the student. You need to look at the way that you think you will study best and try to use that to your advantage.
Personally I think that working on your own is a particularly good way to learn. Unless you are particularly keen to learn with other people, then you might do better on your own. The solitude can help you to concentrate, and if you are a good self motivator, then this will definitely be the best way for you to learn a new language.
We have recently come across a great website which will help you to learn the English language using some fantastic English language software. This site gives you all the tools you need to get to grips with English, and it is particularly flexible for a language learning tool.
If you find it hard to learn in a group of people, or if you have only a small amount of confidence in your spoken English at the moment, then learning on your own is going to be the best bet for you while you build your own knowledge up in your new chosen language. This English writing software will bring you on in leaps and bounds, and you will be speaking fluently in no time!

Are you learning English for Business? Congratulations. Improving your language skills can be a great way to move into a better job or even get the job you’ve been dreaming of for a long time. But, have you asked yourself this very important question? Exactly what business are you studying for? This is a question many English language learners never really ask!

You see the language we use changes depending on the situation. The type of business, the work environment, and many other factors will influence the language used in one business from another. Of course some of the language and communication purpose stays the same, but a lot is different. This isn’t really too hard to understand, but lets look at a simple example to really clarify what I’m talking about here.

Imagine two people who work for different companies in different industries. One works for yahoo.com as a programmer in the internet industry, and another works as a check-in attendant for British Airways in the airline transportation industry. Both require business English, but quite clearly the language the programmer uses to talk with “The Boss” will be very different from the language the check-in attendant uses.

You won’t hear the programmer asking a client “Do you want an aisle or window seat?” very often. Nor will you find an airline attendant telling his or her supervisor that the latest sub-routine has a bug in it that is causing client’s computers to crash. This just makes simple sense. The work you do, the place you work, and the people you work with will all affect the language that you use on a daily basis.

So, when you are studying English for business purposes, you need to remember a very important thing. You need to study the general business English that will be common in most business situations, but you also need to focus on the language that is specific to the business world that you will be working in.

Doing both of these is critical to your success. If you can’t use the language of your industry because you don’t really know it, you will have a very hard time getting (or keeping) a job.

By: Eric Koshinsky

About the Author:

When young English children start school, they start off in beginning English classes. At this point they can speak the language and do make mistakes in pronouncing many words. They cannot, however, write the language. This is what you need to consider when you want to know how to learn English. Adult learners often have a hard time starting off with simple lessons and feel that they are missing out on something. You have to start at the beginning because in this regard you are like a child just learning the language.

Most adults are very fearful when they start learning English. They are afraid that they will make mistakes when they speak and write. Making mistakes is a part of learning so when you do make mistakes and someone corrects you, they are doing you a favour and helping you learn. It takes a lot of practice to learn English well and part of that learning process is making mistakes.

Whether or not you are attending school to help you learn English there are many other resources you can use on your own to aid your learning. This includes taking a free online English course where you have access to numerous resources. Lessons are available for all stages of learning and provide you with instruction, practice exercises and quizzes.

Listening is an essential aspect of learning any new language. You have to be able to hear native speakers so that you learn how to pronounce the words correctly. Even if you get listening exercises in class, listening to passages and conversations being read in the online courses gives you more exposure to the language. This is especially true if you are taking English lessons in your home country. By using the resources available online you increase your exposure to the language outside of class.

Online English lessons are free for anyone to use all over the world. Therefore, you can stay at home and learn English in this manner without the expense of travelling to an English speaking country. The best way to learn English is to immerse yourself in the language and you can do this through an online course. Read books and listen to conversations. Record yourself reading the same text and compare how well you are doing. It won’t be long before you are able to read along just as well as the native speaker in the course.

Set a schedule for your study routine and stick to it. Each of your study sessions should include the four aspects of the language ?listening, speaking, reading and writing. This helps to vary the routine so that you are not always doing the same thing. If, for example, you set aside one hour a day for learning English you can devote 15 minutes to each of these aspects of the language. Don’t overlook games when learning English because these can really help you increase your vocabulary. Listening to English songs is another way of learning the language, especially if you start off with music for children where all the words are pronounced clearly.

Although you will have access to English books on the site you choose, you can also order books in English from many online sites. Start with children books to help you increase your knowledge of the language because these books have pictures as well as words and this will enhance your comprehension of the text.

By: Charles Johnson

About the Author:

There are many ways to go about studying a language. For people who want to learn English it is important to examine all the resources available for studying a language. The resources are sometimes free such as online dictionaries and sometimes rather costly such as individualized tutoring from a native speaker over some type of voice chat program. Picking the right resources for your needs is sometimes a monumental task. Some things to consider though are what your needs are as a student and what facilities are offered by the site that fit those needs.

Individual instruction from an online teacher can be a very valuable tool when you are trying to learn English. Native English speakers can help you to understand the subtle differences in words. They can help you to understand strange violations of grammar rules and can tell you when something that looks like it should be right just doesn’t sound right. There are sometimes phrases that are grammatically correct but just don’t sound right in spoken English. Native speakers’ inherent understanding of their own language makes them aware when something just sounds off.

The free online resources can be quite helpful but nothing compares to personalized instruction. Studying on your own time does have additional value. Online dictionaries can help when you run into unfamiliar words. Video sharing sites like YouTube can give you an opportunity to hear the language as it is spoken. For people who really want to learn English it is important to get as much exposure to the language as possible. It’s not always possible to go to a place where English is the native language but you can supplement your learning by watching English language movies, listening to English music or even communicating on English web forums.

Not only does exposure help you in learning a language it can also make your study time more fun. When I studied Japanese I really enjoyed watching Japanese cinema without the subtitles on. I would make a game out of how much of the dialogue I could understand. This can be helpful for those seeking to learn English especially since a lot of movies are produced in the English language. An important part of studying a foreign language is to keep with it and if you can find fun activities that allow you to study at the same time it is easier to keep yourself motivated.

By: Marc W Anderson

About the Author:

There are many good reasons why you would choose to learn English in Hawaii instead of New York or California or anywhere else in America. Hawaii offers so much to the student of English when you think about it, like perfect weather, romantic walks along the beach, palm trees and coconuts and pineapples, surfing, hiking and biking, unsurpassed beauty, their culture, hula dancing, and steel-string guitar music.

There are a number of schools where you can study English in Hawaii, including universities, community colleges, and private schools. The colleges and universities require a long term commitment from students, an F-1 visa, and tuition can be expensive; whereas the smaller private English language schools offer more flexibility, short term studies, smaller classes, and they are often cheaper. One new private school, Hawaii Palms English School, which is located in the heart of Waikiki Beach just a three-minute walk to the beach, deserves special attention. Other better known schools like Global Village and ICC are located next to Ala Moana Shopping Center about a 25 minute walk to Waikiki Beach by comparison.

Clearly, it has the best location of any language school in Hawaii. The school is convenient and safe and within walking distance of all the hot spots in and around Waikiki Beach. It is close to shopping, restaurants, the post office, cafes, and of course, world famous Waikiki Beach.

Hawaii Palms is a small school and offers special attention to its students, but what makes the school really stand out is its outstanding curriculum and top-notch teaching staff. While visiting the school recently I was impressed by the quality of the teaching staff. Most of the teachers have higher degrees, some of them teach at neighboring universities like the University of Hawaii, and all of the teachers had years of experience teaching English as a second language to students around the world.

The smaller schools are able to offer the English language student short term programs that are not as expensive as one might expect for Hawaii. The price of a 9 week Intensive English Program at this school, for example, was only $1450 and that includes textbooks. What’s more, all the schools offer to help students find accommodations during their stay in Hawaii.

If you want to learn English, why not choose Hawaii? You will not only be surprised by Hawaii’s affordability, but you can also look forward to an impressive array of activities that many schools simply cannot offer. Most of these activities involve their natural beauty, its warm clear blue ocean, and the tropical plants and flowers which make this truly a paradise. You can learn a traditional activity like surfing, hula dancing, and ukulele; or you can take a walk on the wild side and try sky diving, scuba diving, kayaking, tropical hiking and camping. It is well known for its sunshine, palm trees, and perfect weather every day of the year. It’s an ideal place to go if you want to learn English.

Why wouldn’t you look into studying English in Hawaii?

By: William Perkins

About the Author:

If you are living in a foreign country where you can not find good resources to learn the English language as your secondary language, you might want to figure out the best alternatives you have to learn English which are effective and cheap at the same time. There are many alternatives that you can use while learning the language, but the most effective alternative is to learn English from CDs.

You might want to compare learning through CDs to the traditional language schools. It is hard to find a person with a decent accent in a foreign country. They may have good command over the language and a nice accent too, but nothing beats the original. You have to take the help of a native speaker if you want effective and fast results.

Another option available for you is textual books and printed material that can provide the same content and flexibility to decide your own hours of study. But with every language learning book, you get an audio book in the form of a CD. This is because of the fact that pronunciation of a particular word, accent and tone of voice can not be taught in the form of textual materials. You will have to hear the voice and grab the exact tone and accent of a native speaker to learn it. Therefore at any cost, you are going to learn these language elements by a CD.

Do not skip lessons because they are contextually connected to each other. If you skipped a lesson by mistake, listen to it again and again so as to understand it clearly. Always try to visualize every lesson so that you can easily practice it.

The advantages of learning with digital media like CDs is that you get a full language learning course that is portable and it is cheaper from the language schools too. It even enables you learn pronunciation without having to leave your house for your classes. Therefore, this method is effective, cheap and works great as well!

However, there are some things you need to keep in mind when using learn English CD type products.

Decide the study hours according to your convenience, but do not waste them in any other thing thinking that you have the alternative to listen that particular lesson at some other time.

Be consistent in your approach and concentrate on taking regular lessons. The practice session is important, so do not miss it at any cost. If, due to some problems, you are not able to take the lesson as you scheduled, you can hear it again and practice it with the same pace you had before you skipped it. Following a planned approach will yield greater results in short amount of time and you will be able to understand and use English easily.

By: John Janson

About the Author:

In the present world scenario, in most of the places, people have been using English (American, British, Australian, etc) for business communication. There are a few pockets in this world, where English is not spoken. But, majority of the people in the world speak, read, and write English; they also use it to further their business needs, skills, and requirements. People who are from non-native English speaking countries need to learn this language separately as their second language, whereas native speakers, whose first language is English, not only speak it fluently since their childhood but also use it in their day-to-day interactions. Read further to know the list of the strategies using which you can develop your English language:

Strategy 1: The easy and best way to learn English is to have a single novel, which is full of conversation-related stuff and read it as many time as possible; while doing this, try to remember the conversations and also the contexts for which they are being used.

This strategy has been helpful to a lot of non-native English speakers and is already in use. People, who adapt this strategy, need to read a novel or a book, which holds lot of conversational stuff, for a number of times. Reading a novel for a number of times makes one’s mind to remember the conversations as it is. This strategy mainly works for those people, who want to concentrate on spoken English.

Strategy 2: Imagine a situation and try to jot down all the words (terminology) you need to explain the situation in English; once you write the stuff, haunt for the meaning of English words in a good dictionary and read them as many times as possible.

This is a proactive strategy; one needs to imagine a situation, for example, like attending a phone call. Try to gather the words and sentences used in this context like “Could you please hold for a minute, May I know who is on the line, etc.” After collecting all the words and sentences related to the said context, review and use them as frequently as you can in your daily interaction.

Strategy 3: The radical way to improve your English and also tease your brain for creativity is to jot down a list of 5 or 10 words randomly from dictionary; start writing a story using those words.

This is quite an advanced strategy. The minimum requirement to adapt this kind of strategy is to understand, read, write, and speak good grammatical English. As this process involves creative writing also, one should be a little bit well-versed with English. The strategy involves collecting 5 or 10 random English words; understand their meaning and try to build a storyline around these words. Make sure the words used should fit the context.

Tips & Tricks Try to explain every context in a few short sentences. It is so important that you need to explain, write, and present each context in short sentences. Readers are not interested to read lengthy sentences; one more point is that lengthy sentences confuse readers. Whatever the context is, break it into small parts, and try to explain those small parts in a few short sentences. The battle to explain things in English is half-won the moment you start using this strategy.

Think how I can explain this situation in English. The main problem non-native English speakers face while learning English is that they think in their mother tongue and try to explain thoughts in English. They also use the same logic to construct sentences in English just like how they do the same in their mother tongue. The solution for this problem is to start thinking in English. If you don not have the habit of thinking in English, cultivate it now.

Read, understand, and digest the verbs of any new language, you want to learn. To grasp and learn a new language, concentrate on its verbs first; the secret lies there. Familiarize yourself with the verbs and their meanings. Then, try to attentively listen to the native speakers while they speak. Slowly, you may start understanding their conversation.

As English is becoming more and more widely used in business communications, it is better to learn it and join the bandwagon of millions of English speaking people all over the world.

By: Pavan M Kumar

About the Author:
